For this week’s edition of Inventor Spotlight, we talked to the extraordinary 3D maker and designer Adam Tirre, also known as Synthetic_Suns. We chatted about his inspirations, his creative process, and advice for people starting with 3D printing.

What Inspires Adam to Create in 3D?

Adam mostly gets his inspiration from browsing Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory, or other 3D- model repositories. Once he stumbles across something cool, he proceeds to work on the model. Like his mask featured on Bionic Inventor, Adam found the design fascinating and decided to print it. He also works on his own ideas like costumes and guns from the game he plays.

Tell Us About the Creative Process?

If Adam cannot find a model or if the item as a hefty price tag, he tries to design it himself with CAD software like Fusion 360. As for the figurines he has designed, most of them were for D&D games that he used to play with his friends before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Advice for Beginners?

Adam suggests that if you are just getting into 3D printing, you will have to be patient. You are not going to get perfect prints the moment you start printing. Depending on the type of printer you are using, it might take some doing to fine tune the machine and get the desired results. Adam also has a Thingiverse profile, where he shares some of his designs.
