In our latest Inventor Spotlight, we have the incredibly talented Marta Cherednik, and her award-winning 3D product designs. We asked her some questions about her designs, and what inspires her to create in 3D, and her current projects.

WHO IS MARTA CHEREDNIK?

Marta Cherednik is an award-winning designer and illustrator, who specializes in creating 3D printed products. She is the Lead Designer at MALINKO Design, an Adelaide, Australia based design studio that focuses on developing and 3D printing innovative homewares, lighting, and jewelry designs. In 2013, she received a Sydney Design Award for her innovative 3D printed Plankton Lamp. She was also a former designer at BOMBARDIER.

WHAT INSPIRES MARTA TO WORK?

Marta likes to use a lot of organic shapes and geometry in her designs. She is always looking for new forms in architecture and nature. Her background in geology and paleontology helps her immensely in creating such innovative designs.

Her studio, MALINKO Design, focuses on developing beautiful, functional, and innovative designer products for everyday use. Since its inception, they have aimed to create a fusion of traditional and innovative manufacturing techniques to create exceptional designs.

WHAT IS MARTA CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

Marta is currently working on a few jewelry collections and series of light shades for urban and creative spaces. She regularly shares her new pieces on her Instagram as they arrive. Her design philosophy, as mentioned on the studio website, is simple: produce unique designer products that are fun and functional.

ADVICE FOR PEOPLE GETTING INVOLVED WITH 3D PRINTING?

Marta wants the 3D printing enthusiast to utilize the maximum potential of this technology. She said "Don't do flat designs that could be done using conventional manufacturing. Go crazy. Go, BIG".
